Last Day in the United States...
This is a map of London and Reading located in the Berkshire**
Map of Britain
Two suitcases, a carry on, and many worrying hours later, it is time to leave. I will be leaving at 5:30 from Dulles tomorrow and will be arriving in Heathrow Airport, London, around 11 here and just in time for breakfast there.
I got my first travel course itinerary! I copied and pasted this from the email:
"Just to give you a little taster of what is in store over the next few weeks, we have a number of smaller trips happening to contextualize what we will be studying on the World in Britain seminar series. On 9 September we will be going to Windsor Castle; you will be attending a performance of Shakespeare's Henry IV part I at the Globe Theatre in London on 26th September (see http://www.shakespeares-globe.org/); there will be a trip to Portsmouth's historic dockyard, where you will get the chance to walk on HMS Victory (Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar); we will be doing a field trip to the Roman town of Silchester, and you will get the chance to operate the only replica Gutenberg press of its type, and print yourselves a page from the Gutenberg Bible. All of this will be framed by lectures on the topics, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did planning it for you!"
*enter girly scream here *
Hurricane Earl update:
Wish me luck on the flight! 6 hours of nothingness. I absolutely hate flying. It's especially nerve-racking because we are flying over water. I'll just have to hold someone's hand the whole way. This will be the start of an epic journey. See you in Reading, England!
